Organizational History:

Surge Community Foundation, Inc.  was founded in response to recognizing the realism that individuals trapped in low-paying, low-skilled jobs are highly unlikely to break the cycle of poverty and attain self-sufficiency without increasing access to opportunities.  We realize there are several aspects to transitioning from getting by and getting ahead.

To rapidly Surge our Community through Literacy.

Improving the quality of life by bridging the skills gap through education and training.

What We Do:

Surge Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, focused on providing educational and financial literacy programming, as well as job readiness training to young adults and adults in the Milwaukee community.
 
The programming for Surge reaches young people and adults through workshops and trainings that include the following topics: career opportunities and development, financial literacy, educational literacy, and healthy living. Facilitators and speakers present on their areas of expertise and provide teachings and information to participants for successful completion of Surge programs.
 
Surge works toward the following objectives:
 
1.      The Community will be Educated
2.      Anti-poverty- Education is a fight against Poverty
3.      Violence Prevention-
4.      Increased Employment Opportunities
5.      Economic Development
6.      Community Health
 
The impact programs from Surge Foundation will have on the community is numerous.  Our goal is to provide much needed programming in the Milwaukee Community.

Expected Outcomes:

​A stronger workforce contributes to an increased local economy that makes healthier lifestyle choices.  Stronger communities breeds community leaders whom are committed to achieving economic prosperity through collaborative efforts.  They are known as positive role models which brings hope back to the communities.  Therefore, the community will show signs of growth with stable housing. reduction in crime rate, increased resources and assets.
